WINTER HAVEN, Fla. -- Authorities in central Florida say tips from the public led them to a woman who allegedly stole toys from a donation box at a pizza shop.
Polk County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Carrie Eleazer says the 27-year-old woman was already in jail on an unrelated theft charge. Detectives interviewed her after getting a tip that she may have been the woman in a video from the Polk City restaurant released by the sheriff's office.
Eleazer says the woman confessed to taking the donated toys and told detectives she left the toys with a friend. Investigators have recovered some of the toys and are searching for the rest.
The woman now faces an additional grand theft charge. On Saturday, a judge set her bail at $5,000.
