WASHINGTON, MO (KTVI)? A school lockdown has been lifted in Washington, Missouri.

The Washington School District placed all of its schools and facilities on lockdown after police lost track of a suspect in the area of one of its schools.? Police were seeking a ?person of interest?, according to Superintendent Lori VanLeer.? The suspect may have been armed.?

After the suspect was pulled over by police, he ran away.? Because of the imminent threat to any facility, Dr. VanLeer put all school children inside while police did their work.? Dr. VanLeer said there was not a threat directly towards a school building, and her move was precautionary.

Authorities have confirmed the suspect has been captured.

At least one eyewitness told FOX 2 News they saw armed law enforcement officials conducting a search in the area near one of the schools.?

We?ll have more information on this story as it becomes available.
